Aeronautical Engineers Inc., (AEI) announces the Issuance of the
Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) By the US FAA of their B737-400
Passenger Freighter Conversion.
Miami, FL – August 22, 2007 - Aeronautical
Engineers Inc, (AEI) announced today that it has received approval from
the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and has been issued an STC to
convert Boeing B737-400 Passenger Aircraft to Full Freighter. AEI’s
B737-400 Freighter can accommodate 10 full 88”X125” size pallets and can
carry a payload up to 45,000 Lbs.
The lunch launch customer for the B737-400 is
RPK Capital. The aircraft will be operated by FLYANT CARGO airlines
a subsidiary of FUTURA INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS Spain. FLYANT already
operates an AEI and Pemco converted B737-300 and has elected to operate
the AEI B737-400 converted aircraft.
AEI’s inception trace back to the late 1950’s
when it received its first STC for a Passenger to Freighter conversion on
a McDonnell Douglas DC-6. In the years since, AEI has developed
engineering packages and STC’s for General Dynamic aircraft models 22/22M,
CV-240, CV-240-27, and CV-340/440, as well as McDonnell Douglas DC-6/6B
and DC-7. During the 1980’s and 90’s, AEI obtained STC’s for
Passenger to Freighter conversions on Boeing 727-100, B727-200, DC-8,
L1011 and L188 aircraft.. Models currently undergoing conversions
include the 8 position B737-200 and 9 position B737-300 conversions. To
date AEI has over 120 STC’s.
Commercial Jet Inc., (CJI) AEI’s sister
company is currently the only authorized modification facility. CJI
is an FAA approved Repair Station, Number OMJR606K; and European Aviation
Authority Number 1592/2002 Aircraft Maintenance and Modification Center.
CJI is located at Miami International Airport and provides a full service
airframe inspections and repairs of Boeing B707, B727, Classic and Next
Generation B737’s, B757, B767, B747, DC8, DC9, MD80, MD90’s, DC10/MD11
Airbus A300.
